We are excited to announce the start of development on the new Nantycaws Resource Recycling Facility (RRF), a state-of-the-art complex designed to handle all of Carmarthenshire’s household recycling. This new facility not only replaces the old MRF but also represents a significant upgrade, both in terms of technology and capacity.

A Facility Built for the Future

The new Nantycaws RRF is designed to process 26 thousand tons of recyclable materials across Carmarthenshire and South West Wales. With around 20,000 tonnes coming from households across Carmarthenshire, the rest will be from the commercial sector. Unlike the old MRF, the RRF will be designed to handle both a comingled stream from households and segregated streams from businesses to provide a valuable service to the local community after the introduction of Workplace Recycling Laws in April 2024. The RRF is designed to segregate polymers and fiber material if required which will enhance the service even further.

Improved Infrastructure for Greater Efficiency

In addition to the technological upgrades, the Nantycaws RRF will feature a completely redesigned road layout and an automated weighbridge. These infrastructure improvements are designed to streamline the process of receiving and sorting materials, reducing waiting times and increasing overall efficiency. The new road access will make it easier for collection vehicles to deliver recyclables, ensuring that materials are processed quickly and effectively.

Construction of the RRF is currently in Phase 1, with Jones Brothers Henllan Ltd leading the development of the shed and road layout.
