Leading the Way in the Circular Economy

This year, we celebrated another year of contributions to the circular economy, proving that sustainable practices are not just an option but a necessity. Our efforts have supported significant projects and inspired communities to join us in creating a greener future.

Supporting Pentre Awel in Llanelli

We were thrilled to supply topsoil to the multi-million-pound Pentre Awel development in Llanelli, a landmark project that will benefit the local community for generations.

Enhancing Biodiversity

Our extensive biodiversity projects continued to flourish in 2024, creating habitats for local wildlife and contributing to the preservation of our natural environment.

Partnerships for Progress

We proudly maintained our partnership with Mel Gwenyn Gruffydd Honey, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in promoting sustainability and supporting local businesses.

Innovative Product Launches

This year saw the launch of Eto Paint and Merlin’s Magic Honey across our household waste recycling centres. These innovative products showcase the value of reuse and recycling, proving that waste can be transformed into something extraordinary.

Driving Repair and Reuse

Through our repair workshop, we diverted thousands of litres of paint and repaired over 5,000 items, giving them a new lease of life and reducing waste.

Growing Community Engagement at Canolfan Eto

Canolfan Eto welcomed over 10,000 visitors in 2024, reinforcing its role as a hub for sustainability and community involvement.

Advancing Composting

We invested in state-of-the-art equipment at our composting facility and sold an impressive 50,000 bags of Merlin’s Magic Compost, supporting gardening enthusiasts and professional growers alike.

Making a Difference Locally

We donated thousands of tonnes of materials to local schools, charities, and community groups, furthering our commitment to giving back.

Operational Milestones

Our operational achievements in 2024 were nothing short of remarkable:

• Plant operators loaded over 3,000 articulated lorries.
• We diverted more than 25,000 tonnes of general waste from landfill.
• Our drivers made over 120,000 collections and covered a staggering 1 million miles across South Wales.
• We expanded our fleet with two new gully suckers.

Supporting Businesses

Over 2,000 customers switched to CWM in 2024, and we helped thousands more adapt to new Workplace Recycling laws, maximizing their recycling rates and ensuring compliance.

Media Presence

We were featured on four major TV programmes across BBC and ITV, spreading the word about our initiatives and inspiring others to join the sustainability movement.

Educational Outreach

Education remained at the heart of our mission. We welcomed thousands of pupils from local schools into our educational programmes, empowering the next generation with knowledge and tools to make a difference.

Renewable Energy Innovations

Our renewable energy initiatives reached new heights in 2024:

• Our wind turbine generated over 450,000 kWh of energy.
• We produced an additional 350,000 kWh from our closed landfill.
• Planning permission was approved for a solar farm at our Nantycaws site, paving the way for even greater renewable energy contributions.

Building for the Future

Work began on our Resource Recovery Facility, which will be capable of processing 80,000 tonnes of material annually—a game-changer for waste management in the region.
